What have we become??
The apprehensions and anxieties these naïve kids are coping with, do they actually deserve?
How conveniently we have robbed this generation of their tender innocence and liberty.
Till yesterday, we the Humans were busy celebrating our countless achievements, considered ourselves invincible. We seemed to be unstoppable. Everything seemed so normal till yesterday..no rather yesteryear. Yes, it has been an year since this whole thing started.
Reeling under the mask, I pondered as my mind wandered and I struggled hard to find answers for my seeking soul in response to the innumerable questions arising within.
Today there is a big question mark in front of the entire mankind. It’s no longer a question of individual but of whole mankind as entire humanity today seems to be in jeopardy.
In the pursuit of a comfortable and luxurious life we became so careless that we all have to be extra cautious, vigilant and careful almost to a level of paranoia. While carving our niche, we modified and customized every single thing on this planet, completely forgetting it is our very temporary abode after all .
We made this earth to suffer and suffocate by creating a jungle of concrete and constructions all around, making our once abound planet discomposed and disturbed. Mother Nature tried to scream time and again giving us the hint but we were in no mood to listen. Why would we...or rather why should we ! After all, we were busy being so Human. We were so immersed in celebrating our fragile and momentary existence all throughout. We have become so ignorant and insensitive as humans that we did not seem to care.
Natural calamities, climate change, pollution, deforestation etc..., very much became ornamental articles confined to books and journals worldwide. Our kids started reading about these core topics as part of their comprehensive curriculum obviously more frequent than before and we acquainted ourselves about these core topics by seeing their percentile and grades. Similarly Wars ,terrorism, racism ,economic disparities, GMO crops etc...,were being imposed upon us in a factional ,gradual but a significant way. Of course we raised our eyebrows and raised our voices but ironically the voice raised by us were very rudimentary and they clearly struggled hard to make their impact beyond the news room discussion or to the panel of world leaders agenda discussion over a exquisite cup of coffee. By surfing our fingers over the news media we satiated ourselves falsely believing that we have done our part. Most of us never thought of taking an individual responsibility which perhaps would have made the difference. We rather sat remote and oblivious thinking that it has nothing to do with us. We became so thick-skinned and so we undermined everything. Perhaps we as Humans were waiting for a larger phenomenon to teach us a bigger lesson.
The present turn of events, indeed perturbing but it definitely compels us to think. Is the Universe trying to deliver some message upon us before it is too late.
In the due course as Humans, why have we become so materialistic. Perhaps in the race of becoming a superhuman, we simply forgot to live like a human … yes , simply like a human and human alone. It was not complicated at all but remember as Humans we have learned to make everything complicated just to feed our ego.
How we became ethically so dwarf and selfishly so giant conveniently pushing all our values and morals to the back seat.
No wonder as Humans we have become so vulnerable today.
It is high time we all unleash the illusionary horses and take a step back to realize and rather self reconcile.
After all what have we become?
Are these the achievements we all wanted to flaunt or was this the final race we all wanted to win?
A microbe of some tiny dimensions sneaked into our lives putting a question mark on our entire existence. Putting a restriction on our most prized possession," our freedom" . It must be laughing at us and perhaps teasing us to the core.

You were celebrating your landing on the Moon and the Mars and just look at yourself today...forget about the the Moon and the Mars, you are scared even to step out of your own territory. You are so puny and you all are so trapped. Your entire existence being intimidated today by “Me, " who in fact have no existence of its own.
You can lessen your pain and suffering by putting the blame upon me but still that does not stop me from saying this to you loud and clear...
it’s you the Humans, the most dangerous viruses of all which everyone need to be feared and be fretful for!!. In the race to outgrow one another, you totally forego the core concept of humanity itself. You thought that being born as the human is the greatest virtues but you hardly realized that to honor this humanity and know it’s true worthiness is the actual essence of life and upon which the entire mankind should thrive and excel.
Today you all have become everything but failed to remain simply humane as humans supposed to be. “What an irony indeed “,I feel pity on you. O Human, after all when will you realize that it is your ignorance that is stirring up all the impending disasters and annihilations if any for that matter.""
Truly this pandemic is here because of a reason. Virus just being a symbol but the encrypted message underneath is far more deeper which need to be decoded thoroughly and moreover collectively and consciously by all of us.
We can surely break the viral chain by isolating ourselves but what about the desolation and loneliness the Humanity is facing today? Do we have a plan for that?
We all have become so self-obsessed today. And under the influence of this very euphoric self obsessional spree we are constantly being pulled and drowned towards our own vicious circle. It is our own false pride , shallow opulence and pseudo abundance that is pushing all of us surprisingly closer to the grave. We all have become so habituated of taking everything granted.
We were brought into existence as a mere piece of creation but in due course we all are trying to become a creator ourselves.
We are under warfare but with a difference. Undeclared and unprecedented with ourselves. Neither we need to seal our borders nor we need to erect the walls this time. We all just need to silently introspect as how and when this virus slowly sneaked into our lives. Of course playing the blame game is an easier diffuse to escape. Once again we the Humans are rejoicing and thumping our chest over successful vaccine trial. We all will be vaccinated sooner or later but what about the viruses sitting within us and how do we plan to inoculate ourselves … that's a bigger question we need to explore upon to emerge truly victorious.
Battling and constantly recoiling between these thoughts I reached home, I was reminded rather commanded strongly to wash my hand not once but twice by my anxiously waiting son. "Was it crowded, Mamma?" He asked. I barely whispered yes, just to see the apprehension looming large on their faces. By this time the distant conversation corner was joined by my other son too, who said "We told you not to go, we could have managed". I smiled seeing the genuine concern reflected by both of them for their Mom, but deep inside I was taken aback as my conscious clock was still ticking in search of an answer...a substantial answer.
I found myself deeply intrigued and utterly helpless...clearly I had no answer...rather I found questioning myself once again...What have we become??
May be in this wave of change we find our true worth and sensible direction.
